Volocopter, a German startup, said that Singapore is one of the most likely places for the commercial launch of an air taxi service with the introduction of electric aircraft. He plans to launch an aerotax service here to deliver passengers over short distances at the price of a regular taxi ride.
Currently, the company has applied to the regulatory authorities of Singapore in order to obtain permission to conduct a public test flight in the coming months.
Volocopter, whose investors include Daimler, Intel and Geely, plans to launch a commercial taxi service with the introduction of proprietary aircraft within the next two to three years.
A number of companies are trying to bring air taxi services to the mass market, but this is hardly possible due to the lack of a regulatory framework and related infrastructure, as well as security problems.
