Microsoft introduced the third generation Surface Laptop. It came in two sizes and finally got a modern USB Type-C connector. A custom version of the Ryzen processor from AMD was developed specifically for this laptop.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 will be available in variants with a display diagonal of 13.5 and 15 inches. The company continues to use screens with an aspect ratio of 3: 2. As before, the “loop” connecting the lower and upper halves of the laptop is hidden inside the case.
Alcantara coating, which is a feature of previous generations, is now an optional solution – you need to pay extra for it separately. The basic versions use an all-metal body made of aluminum. External changes also include a 20% increase in the touchpad. Keyboard travel is 1.3 mm. In addition, Microsoft drew attention to a simple replacement drive.
The 13.5-inch Surface Laptop 3 uses the tenth generation quad-core Intel Core processor up to the Core i7. According to Microsoft, performance compared to Surface Laptop 2 has doubled, and when compared with the latest Macbook Air – three times.
The 15-inch model has a custom Ryzen Surface Edition processor developed jointly by Microsoft and AMD. According to the manufacturer, this is the fastest mobile processor in its class. In addition, it uses the most powerful integrated graphics.
The laptop has a proprietary magnetic charge. In addition, there was support for fast charging – 80% in 1 hour. An important innovation in comparison with its predecessors was the presence of the long-awaited USB Type-C connector.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 will go on sale October 22 at a price of 999 for the 13.5-inch version and from 1199 for the 15-inch.
