Following the rumors about the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 release, information appeared on the network about the new MediaTek chipset, which supposedly will compete with the future novelty. The leak was supported by specific figures: insiders Published test results of the mobile platform in the popular benchmark.
The Chinese social network Weibo has published the results of testing an unnamed single-chip platform MediaTek with a built-in 5G modem in Geekbench. According to the source, the new product scored 3447 and 12151 points in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. According to available information, the processor as part of the mobile platform will receive Cortex-A77 cores with a clock frequency of 2.3 GHz.
Announcement of new items is expected at the end of this year, and the start of production – in the first quarter of 2020. Smartphones starting at 420 are expected to be produced on the basis of this chipset. The new SoC is attributed to the 7-nm process technology, the Mali-G77 graphics processor, the MediaTek coprocessor for solving tasks related to AI algorithms, as well as support for 4K @ 60 fps video recording and cameras with a sensor resolution of up to 80 megapixels.
The built-in 5G modem supposedly supports operation in the frequency ranges below 6 GHz, and is backward compatible with previous communication standards. The commercial name and detailed specifications of new items are unknown.
