US lawmakers have suggested considering the possibility of creating a "digital dollar" as a reserve monetary unit. The initiators were representatives of several states, sending the corresponding document to the address of the Federal Reserve System (FRS).
Congressmen believe that the ordinary dollar may be in jeopardy if another foreign cryptocurrency appears (both the state and private organizations can become an issuer) if the latter becomes widespread.
Senators believe that the Fed has every reason to issue a national cryptocurrency. According to them, about 40 countries have already developed their own cryptocurrencies or are considering the possibility of developing them.
